We’ll Miss You, Aunt Dee

Our family has suffered a tremendous loss of (my) Aunt Dee.  Her life and strength and love will live on in us, although the void left by her passing will no less be felt and mourned.  We celebrate her life today and thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, for being the atoning sacrifice for us, taking our sin on Himself, and willingly going to the cross to be judged in our place, creating a bridge between Earth and Heaven that we are now able to cross.  Because of him, we can be sure we’ll meet Aunt Dee again.  In celebrating her life, we bring out the best and the favorite expressions of love, hope and devotion to share with you.

I Believe

Coming Home

Poem (Unknown)
I wonder if Christ had a little old dog
all shiny and silky like mine.
And a nose round and wet
with two cute little ears and two eyes
brown and tender that shine.

I’m sure if He had , that THAT little dog
knew right from the start that He was God.
That he needed no proof that Christ was divine
And just worshiped the ground where He trod.

I’m afraid that He hadn’t because I have read
How He prayed in the garden alone
For all of His friends and disciples had fled
Even Peter, the one called “Stone.”

I am sure that THAT little dog
With a heart so tender and warm
Would never have left Him to suffer alone
But, creeping, right under His arm
Would have licked the dear fingers
In agony, clasped, and counting all favors but loss.
When they took Him away, would have trotted behind
And followed Him right to the cross.

I’m sure, too, that THAT little dog
Would want us all to know
To ask Christ into our hearts is the way to go
And when we bow before the throne of God
In answer to His call
I know we’ll see that little dog, round, wet nose and all.

Prayer (written by Darlene Jane Owens)
Dear Lord, help us to remember that You so loved the world, You gave Your only begotten Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.  When we are afraid, help us to remember, You are always with us.  Give us the courage to follow Your will and to recognize You in the people we see in our lives; to have compassion for those that are hurting and be supportive of their needs.  Help us to be Your messengers and to love one another.  Thank You for all the blessings You have given us.  We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
