A Sad Day for Stater Bros.

WinCo is on the scene here in Apple Valley.  It’s Grand Opening has caused the entire town to gather there.  Lines to reach the cashier extend to the back of the store, and the wait is announced at the door – “2 HOURS once you get in line.”  Does milk even stay good that long out of the cold?  Jen and I plan to try our luck again at this 24 Hour Hot Spot of the desert at around 11pm tonight.  Wish us luck.  (Stater Bros. may not be as bad off as we think – it all depends on people’s patience.  Who will win?  I’ll tell you after 11pm tonight.)

\"2 Hours, people... we told you when you came in.\"Got it! The LAST SPACE!

remember it’s grand opening and people are trying it out because it is new. in a month or two the crowds probably won’t be any worse than at any other grocery store. i don’t think we have a winco here, but my mom up in oregon does, and the prices are worth enduring a few inconveniences, i think.

Randy and I braved the crowds and the lines were long, but they kept moving. We kinda enjoyed it, but agree with Jeffrey about bagging your own groceries. Yuk! We got some good stuff. Worth a try! It will get better when it isn’t so new.

Hang in there, it is opening week and crowds will be big for a couple of days to a couple of weeks, but nothing like the opening day. Winco will save u money and for the minor inconvenience of bagging your own groceries it is worth it. In this economy it will be worth it. The other big up side of Winco foods is its incredible selection. There is not another store anywhere that has the variety that they have. If you want some great treats try the bulk foods…. or maybe not it could be dangerously addicting.

Winco, in the north, is great because there are no unions .70 cent bread wohoo.
